This is one of the four basic Timing and Directions, fundamental to manipulating two spinning props. Together-Time Opposite-Direction is often referred to as “The Butterfly” because of how the movement resembles that of flapping wings.
For reference, here are the four basic Timing and Direction combinations, with their flow-slang contractions:
- Together-time Same-direction – or “Tog-Same”
- Split-time Same-direction – or “Split-Same”
- Together-time Opposite-direction – or “Tog-Opp”
- Split-time Opposite-direction – or “Split-Opp”
The Flow Arts Institute is creating a compendium of online video training for spinners and jugglers. We aim to provide top-quality video lessons from reknown teachers that cover the widest variety of prop skills. This website will have many more inspirational and instructional videos very soon. Stay tuned for an announcement of their launch.
