Introducing our instructors of the month for July are Juan Guardiola and Emily Perkulator! They both are currently located in Chicago where you can take regular classes from them and are members of the Chicago Fire Technicians.

Emily Perkulator
Perkulator, born Emily Perkins, has been spinning hoops for over 4 years. Her passion quickly grew into an obsession, leading her to find numerous ways to explore creativity with movement and props. This excitement for creativity has led her across the nation- teaching and performing at such notable events as Flow Show Chicago, Electric Forest, Kinetic Fire, Camp Fire, and more. You can see her performing regularly in Chicago at a swanky club called Untitled, as well as teaching through Chicago Hoop Dance and DePaul University. In 2014, she appeared at Kinetic Fire, Camp Fire, Flow Camp, Sukhava Bodhe Yoga Retreat, and Phases of the Moon Music & Art Festival. You might have seen her earlier this year at Telluride Fire Festival, MinneFLOWta, FLAME, Spin Summit, Camp Fire, Playthink, SoILL Fire and Flow Retreat, and Lakes of Fire.
Perkulator also helps to facilitate a weekly flow event in Chicago called Flow Jam, where local prop manipulators can gather and spin together. Contact her for private Skype lessons and follow her instagram for video clips and artist page for regular content.

Juan Guardiola
Juan was born and raised in northwest Indiana and has been performing as a object manipulator/juggler since 2010.He’s currently the manager and has been a principal performer of the Chicago Fire Technicians since the fall of 2012. Some features you may recognize him from are the 2014 at Flow Show Chicago, F.L.A.M.E., The Spin Summit, Kinetic Fire, Camp Fire, Wild Fire, Flow Camp, Spun out, Flow Down Festival, and Fahrenheit flow retreat. Iv been featured in 2015 at Winter Fire Arts Association, Flow Motion Chiller, Texas Flow Fest, The Spin Summit, Ignight, Wild Fire, Fire Drums, Camp Fire, and Play Think. He performs with a wide palette of objects including contact poi, contact staff, Double Staff, and Puppy Hammer. I also juggle balls, rings, hoops, poi, and clubs.
